I started this journey because I couldn’t find jewellery that truly represented me.

As someone of mixed Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander heritage, I wanted pieces I could wear every day — jewellery that reflected my identity, my culture, and where I come from. I wanted something strong, meaningful, and beautifully made. Something that wasn’t costume-like or overly commercialised. Something that felt like us.

But I couldn’t find it; So, I began creating it.

The name Guban, meaning big Butterfly in Yidinji language, from far north Queensland. For me it represents transformation and the beauty of becoming, growth, and identity. This brand embodies that journey.

Each piece is inspired by culture, connection, and heritage — bringing together elements like the colours on the flag, Dhari and Boomerang forms, tropical flowers, and symbols that represent land, sea, and identity. These designs aren’t just shapes; they carry story, culture, pride, and belonging.

This brand was born from the desire to see ourselves represented in fine jewellery — polished, powerful, and wearable. Pieces that honour heritage.
